A timely comment from John

Once upon a time Adam and Peter were engaged in a conversation. Lucifer interrupted this conversation to enquire if Peter had any cash. Lucifer informed him that he could buy anything in this world if he had the money. Little did Peter realise that this meant, that if he was prosperous enough, he could buy prime real estate, that was great and spacious, next to the temple. Peter was also told that by purchasing this real estate he would be helping to protect the temple by keeping away all the horrible peasants. Peter could then go up to the temple of Rameumptom, with just a short walk, and pray to God and thank Him for electing Peter to be one of His special and holy children. Peter could also thank God for making sure that he did not have to mingle with those unsightly peasants. Surely it would make no difference to God that it was the unsightly peasants who actually built the temple.

“Behold, what shall these my brethren do, for they are despised of all men because of their poverty, yea, and more especially by our priests; for they have cast us out of our synagogues which we have labored abundantly to build with our own hands; and they have cast us out because of our exceeding poverty; and we have no place to worship our God; and behold, what shall we do?”

“I behold that ye are lowly in heart; and if so, blessed are ye.”

Luckily for Peter he would never have been fooled by Lucifer in this way. In fact Peter would dismiss, without further argument, those people who offered to sell convenient locality to sacred signs and tokens, and tell them to take a flying jump off the nearest multi-billion dollar high rise shopping mall.
