The property and business arm of the Church is using the widows mite for the real estate development project in Temple View. This departure from historical and scripture based tithing doctrine is unprecedented in church history. It elevates the pseudo ideologies of sparkle, keeping up appearances and improving the environs of the Temple above charity. The church is New Zealand’s largest charity, donations collected, but spends the least, zero, on its charitable purposes. 100% of over $30 million a year in New Zealand tithing donations is spent on administration, salaries, benefits, expenses and the property scheme in Temple View. It appears to be a very nice charity for 190 full time employees and consultants.
